Summer is officially here and we are open to the public every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1pm-4pm. We are currently updating our displays, so plan to stop by to see what we have been working on! We will continue to be here on Friday mornings, 9am-noon, when our crew of volunteers is busy working on the collection; we're always happy to take a break and show you around. We are also open by appointment, just call or email to set something up.
Our next event will be a monarch butterfly event hosted by our very own Maine Master Naturalist, Cyrene Slegona:
Come to the Lincolnville Historical Society at 33 Beach Road and meet some Monarchs (Danaus plexippus) – eggs, caterpillars, chrysalis and adult butterflies – and milkweed Saturday, July 26th from 9 to noon.
There will be a butterfly trail to navigate, caterpillars to draw and our very own Gulliver to meet…
This is an opportunity for people of all ages to ask questions about Monarchs, pollinators, milkweeds and share sightings. Let’s celebrate this annual summer resident that has been coming to our state for thousands of years. Together we can make them welcome for many years to come.
We hope to see you there!
